SOURCING FOR BEGINNERS
If you’ve been reaching out to suppliers and getting ignored, let me guess:
You asked something vague like “How much would it cost to make leggings?”
And then… silence.
Here’s the truth no one tells you:
Most people get ghosted by suppliers because they don’t actually know what they want, or how much.
And it's not their job to tell you - that is actually one of the most annoying questions you could ask a supplier.
In the fashion industry, you only get one shot.
If you waste someone’s time, you’re getting left on read in the future.
That’s why I created:
✅ A quick flowchart to help you figure out if you’re actually ready to reach out to a factory
✅ And a supplier email template that gets responses, not ghosted.
✅ Plus a little head start to help you find suppliers if you need help with that too
Use this before you hit send. Save your first impression for when it counts.
Are You Ready to Reach Out to a Supplier?
1. Are your designs ready?
→ No: Start working on them. Leave suppliers alone for now.
→ Yes: Move on to 2.
2. Do you know what fabrics you want?
→ No: Start researching materials that fit your price point and product vision.
→ Yes: Move on to 3.
3. Do you know your budget and how much you want to order?
→ No: Figure this out first, because prices change based on quantity. People think they need to ask suppliers for prices to figure out their budget, but as I've said in the past, you set your budget, then work backwards from there.
→ Yes: You’re ready!
